A team of the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit (CTTC) under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested the new militant group Jama`atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya`s founder Shamin Mahfuz.
They arrested him and his wife from the capital`s Demra area around 10pm, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police KN Roy Niyati told reporters.
A significant quantity of weapons and explosives were seized from the arrested individuals, he said.
Information regarding Shamin`s arrest will be revealed at a press conference this afternoon, he added.
